Official and certified translations in Sofia

Artel-22 has provided official translation of personal, public and company documents in Sofia since 1999. Tell us which institution will receive the translation and include its instructions. If the document comes from abroad, send the existing certifications too.

Signature certification

The term “certified translation” depends on the receiving jurisdiction. Ask the recipient what presentation and signature certification it requires. Under the general Bulgarian procedure, a translation made here of a foreign document for use in Bulgaria requires a Bulgarian notary to certify the translator’s signature. For use abroad, ask whether the recipient accepts a Bulgarian translation and what certification it requires. Applicable exemptions also need to be considered. See the MFA guidance.

Translators and the MFA contract

Artel-22 has a Ministry of Foreign Affairs contract for official translations into and from Bulgarian and works with translators approved by the MFA. Acceptance and signature certification depend on the intended use. Forward the recipient’s checklist so the order can be discussed against its actual requirements.

More than 50 languages and translators

We work with more than 50 languages and more than 50 translators. Ask about your particular language pair, including less commonly requested combinations. Specify both the source and target language rather than only the recipient’s country.

Documents and specialist texts

Our work covers civil-status records, municipal documents, diplomas and certificates, legal, financial and tender documentation. It also includes construction, medical and business records, websites and online catalogues. Existing terminology or previous translations can provide useful context for a specialist request.

Standard page and confidentiality

A standard translation page contains 1800 characters including spaces. It measures text volume and may differ from a physical page in your file. The agency is a registered personal data controller; translators, employees and partners have signed confidentiality agreements.

How it works

  1. Send the document by email, bring it to the office or use a courier. Include all relevant pages, the target language, intended use and deadline.
  2. Receive an individual quote and timeframe for the agreed work. Clarify the document set, certifications and delivery format before confirming.
  3. The agreed translation or legalisation is carried out. Requirements for submission to an institution are considered under the applicable procedure.
  4. Receive the completed work at the office, by courier or electronically, depending on the service. Tell us in advance if the recipient needs paper documents.

Preparing files for an official translation

For personal records, tell us how your name appears in other relevant documents in the target language. Flag differences in your message rather than changing the source document. For company records, include the company’s established foreign-language name if one is available.

Check the legibility of stamps, handwritten notes and the reverse side of certificates. Send complete tables and explanatory notes for financial records. If a page is missing or damaged, identify it before confirming the scope. A readable scan helps us discuss the work; it does not establish that the recipient will accept an electronic copy.

If you already have a translation, send it as context and identify the current source version. Explain whether you need a translation for your own reading or a document set for an institution. You can also read the published Glavbolgarstroy reference when considering the agency’s work.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a translation official?

Its intended institutional use determines the required presentation and certification. Tell us who will receive it so we can discuss those requirements.

Can I send a scan?

Yes, send a readable scan to discuss the order. Whether an original is also needed depends on the requested service.

Can you help with a less common language?

We work with more than 50 languages. Ask about the specific combination and deadline so availability can be discussed.

How will I receive the translation?

You can receive it at the office, electronically or by courier. Check whether the recipient needs a signed paper set.

Price

Each translation is priced individually, depending on the document type and length, the language and the deadline. Send the document for a quote and specify whether you also need certification, legalisation or delivery. Specialist texts and urgent work affect pricing; larger volumes may qualify for a discount.
